###the origin of my concept When I printed using a wooden type that had accidentally been partially damaged, I discovered it had it’s own special individuality. In much the same way as when ink doesn’t transfer evenly. To the surface of a type, it was no good for printing, but there was something uniquely beautiful about it. With that in mind, I thought, “I wonder if I could create a different impression by changing the way I transfer ink to woodtype,” and started experimenting. However, since I couldn’t keep on damaging woodtype to try out different ideas, I tried to think up a simpler method of bringing type to life. That was the origin of this project.
